Plum Jam

My sister came over yesterday and we went for a drive looking for fruit. I live near a few orchards and places that sell local vegetables. The best bargain was from the orchard right next to my house this box of plums.
A small amount of it is now my first attempt at jam. I don't think I even made a dent in the box so there will be more jams and stewed fruit this week.

Beautiful beautiful jam!! What a great sense of achievement to have jars of jam you made yourself. Well Done!

In our last house we had a plum tree. Once we got sick of jam making we just stewed tewm a bit and froze them - then they went into puddings, cakes, deserts , pancakes. Lucky you - the jam looks great

Mmmmmm... Plum jam. It looks delicious. My Dad used to make plum jam and the taste was wonderful! Stuff from the shop doesn't even come close!

I think of myself as the kind of person who makes jam, yet I have yet to do it! Myabe this will be the year. I would also be happy to have a neighbor or aq close friend that makes jam and gives it to me. That might even be better.

That jam looks lovely! We have a plum tree in our backyard and I attempted jam for the first time last year. I also made a lovely plum chutney based on a Delia Smith recipe. You can also freeze the clean plums in bags (I weighed them into convenient weights) to make jam later in the year when the weather is not so hot. The plums on our tree are just now starting to ripen. Looking forward to pretending to be a domestic goddess for a day again!

The jam looks fabulous! I am sitting here dreaming of plum and apple crumble which I guess is not really a summer treat more of an autumn/winter one!!

Looks delicious! I made my first batch of jam last summer when my neighbor's apricot tree ripened. I think I made three batches, and probably could have made more had I been so inclined. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. I recently received my own canning equipment as a gift and can't wait until next summer!

Yummy how delicious! Plum jam, and the color is divine! I think I would have trouble not eating up the plums before I made the jam! :o) There are few things as good as homemade jam!
